Dragons To Honor Top Performers From 2010-11 Season at Annual Awards Banquet April 26

Drexel's men's and women's basketball teams will honor their top performers and performances of the 2010-11 season at the teams' annual awards banquet on April 26, 2011. The banquet, which will be held at 6 p.m. on Sam Cozen Court at the Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd and Market Streets), is open to all Drexel fans. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Molly Rallo mer73@drexel.edu or 215-895-6375. The price is $40 for the public and $25 for season ticket holders and members of the DAC Pack.

Among the honorees scheduled to be recognized throughout the evening are each team's most valuable player, top defensive performers, rookies of the year and Coaches Award recipients. Both the men's and women's teams turned in excellent performances this season.

The Drexel men posted a 21-10 record, the program's second 20-win season in the last five years. The Dragons' 2010-11 campaign included victories over city rivals Penn and Saint Joseph's, an upset of No. 20 Louisville on the road and a win against a Virginia Commonwealth team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four.

The Drexel women finished 19-13 on the season and made their third straight postseason appearance by earning a trip to the Women's National Invitation Tournament for the second year in a row. The Dragons defeated all four of the Philadelphia schools on their schedule this season, including the program's first win against Villanova. They also defeated Penn State on the road en route to their best non-conference record in more than a decade, while playing a tough schedule that included national champion Texas A&M.
