Drexel Named to Top 200 Universities Worldwide by Times Higher Education
Times Higher Education, the United Kingdom’s most authoritative source of information about higher education for people working in higher education and research, has named Drexel University one of the top 200 universities in the world in its 2010 World University Rankings. Times Higher Education analyzed more than 1,000 research-based institutions worldwide and determined the rankings by evaluating five categories: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international mix.
Drexel’s inclusion in the top 200 indicates that its learning environment, research influence, reputation and innovation are among the best in the world. Drexel is ranked 190th worldwide and 76th in North America.
Additional Times Higher Education rankings by subject will be released starting September 23, 2010 and continuing to October 28. These will look at the areas of engineering and technology; life sciences; clinical, pre-clinical and heath; physical sciences; social sciences; and arts and humanities.
Times Higher Education’s announcement follows the release of the U.S. News & World Report 2011 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” which ranked Drexel second out of only 20 institutions on the list of “up-and-coming” universities that have achieved “most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus or facilities.” U.S. News ranked Drexel 86th nationally.
