Drexel Crew to Open Season with Boat Dedications and Navy Day Regatta
What: The Drexel Dragons crew team will begin the season with a boat dedication ceremony and racing at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River. Four boats will be dedicated; one will be named “The Annette Pennoni” in honor of the wife of Drexel President C.R. “Chuck” Pennoni.The dedication will take place at the Bachelors Barge House. The four boats will be lined up. The Crew team will be holding the oars upright while those for whom the boats will be named walk to their boat. Each honoree will break a bottle of champagne against the boat bearing his/her name.Who: The three other boats to be named are: --“The Peggy Greenawalt” honoring the wife of Richard A. Greenawalt, chairman of Drexel’s Board of Trustees. --“The Marlene Buckley” honoring the wife of Drexel trustee Robert Buckley --“The Vince Vidas” in honor of Drexel alumnus and retired president of SEMCOR, Inc.
