Environmental Engineer Available to Comment on Pharmaceuticals in the Regional Drinking Water Supply

Drexel University professor of environmental engineering Dr. Charles Haas is available to comment on the array of pharmaceuticals found by the Associated Press investigative team in drinking water supplies.Haas can comment on the following: -The amounts of pharmaceuticals in Greater Philadelphia water supplies. -Define “trace” amounts of pharmaceuticals. -Discuss whether or not biochemical accumulation is possible. -Discuss the process of how these drugs get into the water.Haas’ research includes the treatments of drinking water. Specifically, Haas has studied the chemical disinfection processes, inactivation of emerging pathogens by disinfectants and the use of computational fluid dynamics for process modeling. Haas is also an expert in risk management and industrial waste treatment.
