Drexel University and the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) will enter into a dual enrollment agreement that will enable P.I.T. associate degree graduates to earn guaranteed transfer to Drexel at junior status and earn a bachelor of science degree. The two institutions will officially announce their collaboration at a celebration on January 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the P.I.T campus. Drexel President Constantine Papadakis, P.I.T President John Strayer and P.I.T founder and trustee Walter Garrison will attend.“We are excited and pleased to partner with Drexel,” said Strayer. “This partnership will offer P.I.T. students an opportunity to benefit from small classes and substantial tuition savings for their first two years.”The partnership will enable qualified students who graduate from any of P.I.T.’s 17 special degree programs to be guaranteed a transfer to one of Drexel’s colleges with junior college status and earn a bachelor of science degree. The three most likely Drexel University colleges into which P.I.T. students will transfer are the College of Engineering, the College of Nursing and Health Professionals and Goodwin College. P.I.T students transferring to Drexel will also be eligible for a “Drexel-P.I.T” grant of up to $4,000 to help defer the costs of the Drexel portion of their program.“We are pleased to join the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology in offering its students a seamless transfer to a Drexel degree.” said Papadakis. “The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology and Drexel share a strong focus on technology in learning, research and the curriculum.”The dual enrollment program is open to P.I.T. students of all ages and will apply to many alumni who graduated from P.I.T. with an associate degree. “We have admired Drexel during our 55 years of educational service to the community, and are thrilled to bring this opportunity to our graduates and alumni,” said Garrison.The primary programs that are offered at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology include associate degrees in allied health technology, architecture and civil engineering technology, business administration technology, computer aided design technology, computer and communication technology, computer software and information technology, mechanical engineering technology, and medical office management technology.
