Santa and Drexel Helpers to Distribute More than 4000 Toys to Local Children

What/Who: After days of bundling 4,000 + toys, Drexel helpers will assist Santa Claus for the 12th consecutive year to distribute the toys to West and North Philadelphia children in the culmination of Philadelphia’s largest toy drive.Donated by Drexel students, faculty, staff and local businesses, the toys were bagged in eco-friendly sacks by volunteer Drexel staff members and will be given to 50 community groups for distribution to neighborhood families.Visuals: -The West Philadelphia Catholic High School Chamber Orchestra performing holiday favorites -Santa Claus seated at his red velvet chair and distributing gifts with the help of an elf -Piles of white bags with a blue Drexel Dragon printed on each -Drexel President Constantine Papadakis offering season’s greetings to community representatives -Drexel’s Victorian Great Court decorated for the holidaysWhen: Thursday, December 18, 2008 from noon to 1 p.m.Where: The Great Court, Main Building (32nd and Chestnut Streets)Background: Drexel is going “green” for the holiday toy drive, reflecting the new eco-friendly spirit at the University and its initiative for a more sustainable environment.
