What: Drexel University’s College of Law will host the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) first “No Place for Hate” conference, featuring Mayor-elect Michael Nutter as keynote speaker.Nutter’s address to students from 20 Eastern Pennsylvania high schools and accompanying teachers and parents will focus on how the “No Place for Hate” program encourages an appreciation for diversity and fosters harmony.“No Place for Hate” empowers people to challenge anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia and all forms of bigotry in their communities and schools. The program seeks to provide a model for responding to and preventing acts of hatred. In Pennsylvania, 120 schools are ADL-certified as “No Place for Hate” schools. Thirteen ADL branches nationwide will hold “No Place for Hate” conferences this year.Students will break into groups for workshops throughout the conference to discuss prejudice and stereotypes after viewing videos on the subjects.
