Free Dinner and Discussion: “Kate Bornstein: Conversations with a Gender Outlaw”
The College of Arts and Sciences presents “Kate Bornstein: Conversations with a Gender Outlaw” as part of the free D3: Dinner and Discussion at Drexel series. The event will take place today, November 4, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Club, 6th floor MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Author, playwright and performance artist, Kate Bornstein, a male-to-female transsexual, examines the complexity of gender identity and sexual orientation in her work, rejecting binary labels such as male/female or straight/gay. Bornstein is Scholar in Residence for the Greater Philadelphia Women's Studies Consortium.
Designed as an intellectual and personal challenge to students, the event will be a lecture and informal conversation with Bornstein about these provocative issues. The event will be moderated by Women’s Studies professor Dr. David Fryer.
D3 is an ongoing series of discussions on interdisciplinary topics sponsored by CoAS. Events are open to all Drexel undergraduate students and include a brief lecture, panel discussion or film screening, an informal discussion and dinner.
Space is limited. To RSVP and for more information, contact Rose Corrigan at rose.corrigan@drexel.edu.
