Green Topic: Great Works Symposium Lecture on "Transportation and Sustainability"
As part of its ongoing term focus on energy, the Great Works Symposium will host a guest lecturer on "Transportation and Sustainability" on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 6 p.m. in Matheson Hall room 109 (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
Petra Mollet, vice president of strategy for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), will speak about issues of sustainability affecting public transportation. Mollet is responsible for long-range strategic planning and spearheads numerous APTA sustainability initiatives, including the recently launched Sustainability Commitment for APTA members. Prior to joining APTA in February 2008, Mollet was director of corporate development at UITP, the International Association of Public Transport based in Brussels, Belgium. There, she led UITP’s worldwide expansion and its external relations and launched UITP’s Sustainable Development Program in 2001. She started her professional career in the transport field as a writer, researcher and editorial assistant for the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).
