In the postseason, Drexel's men's and women's basketball teams are continuing the solid play that got them to their conference championship games.

After earning concurrent postseason births for the first time in the programs’ history, Drexel’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are continuing to blaze a trail through the record books. The men’s team defeated Central Florida in the National Invitation Tournament to earn its first postseason victory since 1996, while the women’s team downed Fairfield on the road in the Women’s NIT to pick up its first postseason win in program history.

Led by an 18-point, 14-assist performance by all-conference point guard Frantz Massenat, the Dragons rolled over Central Florida, 81-56, in front of a raucous crowd at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Wednesday night. Chris Fouch led all scorers with 19 points, including five three-pointers, and Goran Pantovic came off the bench to score 10 points in just eight minutes of play. The victory improved Drexel’s record to 28-6 and set a new single-season record for victories. The Dragons will face Northern Iowa on Sunday, March 18 at 11 a.m. in the DAC.

The women’s team broke through with its first postseason win, after reaching the WNIT for the third year in a row, by besting Fairfield, 57-41, in Connecticut on Thursday. Senior guard Kamile Nacickaite, playing in her team record-setting 126th game, had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons. Her classmate Tyler Hale led all scorers with 18 points and also added five assists, five rebounds and two steals. Drexel, which is now 19-13 on the season, will face the winner of a first-round game between Syracuse and Hartford.
