Pulse - Commencement 2017 Dean's Hour Awards Ceremony

Members of the MD Class of 2017 were celebrated by their deans on May 18 at the annual Dean's Hour Graduation Awards Ceremony.

Members of the MD Class of 2017 were celebrated by their deans on May 18 at the annual Dean's Hour Graduation Awards Ceremony. Held at the Queen Lane Campus, the event began with opening remarks by Valerie Weber, MD, MS, the Deborah J. Tuttle, MD, and John P. Piper, MD, Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Also presiding were Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs Amy C. Fuchs, MD, and Associate Dean Seema Baranwal, MD.

More than 85 awards were presented in recognition of academic or clinical excellence in medical specialties, humanitarianism, leadership, community service or service to the school or student body. Bridging the Gaps scholars, Humanities scholars and Women's Health scholars, who had completed additional requirements for those programs, were also honored.

Following tradition, the Maurice C. Clifford, MD, Leadership Award, given to a student who best exemplifies the highest ideals of service, achievement and leadership, was not announced until Commencement, the following day.
