Dr. Calaman is an associate professor of pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine. She is the one of the founders and the medical director of the Simulation Center at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. She is involved in the management of the center as well as curriculum design, scenario development and faculty development for simulationists.
Dr. Calaman serves as one of the associate residency program directors at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and is the co-leader of the Pediatric Education Group for Healthcare Simulation in Education for the Association of Pediatric Program Directors. She has also served as the director of the simulation task force for the multisite IIPE-PRIS Accelerating Safe Signouts (I-PASS) study, developing simulation elements for that curriculum. She has led multiple workshops at national meetings on how to most effectively use simulation as an educational tool, particularly across multiple levels of learners.
Dr. Calaman's research interests focus on using simulation to identify and evaluate leadership skills as well as exploring computer-based simulation for resuscitation education.
