Jasjit K. Beausang, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Drexel University College of Medicine. She is course director for the gynecology sub-internship and facilitates case-based learning sessions for the MD program. Dr. Beausang teaches medical students, residents and physician assistant students rotating in the OB/GYN outpatient offices, operating room, and labor and delivery service.

Research

Dr. Beausang's research interests include obesity during pregnancy and the effect of food access on gestational weight gain. She is also involved in an Office of Women's Health–funded program to provide a safe medical home for women who have undergone female genital cutting. In this project women are linked with community resources including legal, health insurance and language services. The program provides preventive and FGC-specific care in a weekly clinic, and aims to develop training resources for staff, nursing providers and physicians to understand the culturally-sensitive care of women and girls at risk for cutting.
