Dr. Nocera is a research assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Her teaching interests include topics such as: 

  • Behavioral neuroscience
  • Statistics and research methods
  • Introductory psychology
  • Brain mechanisms/psychobiology
  • Psychobiology of sex and gender
  • Neuropsychology
  • Gerontology
     

She received the C.M. Freeburne Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1990.

Research

Dr. Nocera is the clinical research director for the Department of Emergency Medicine, as well as the director of the resident research program. In this role she oversees multiple funded clinical trials in stroke and traumatic brain injury, prepares and reviews IRB documents and applications, identifies sources of funding for residents and faculty, and assists in development of faculty projects. 

She also reviews and edits manuscripts for grant submission and peer-reviewed journal publication, assists in writing new articles, and provides consulting in research methods and statistical analyses.

Dr. Nocera also maintains her own program of research in the field of neuroscience. Her current work examines the relationships between meteorological variables and the incidence of stroke.
