Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies Pre-medical & Pre-health Programs

Founded in 1981, the Division of Pre-medical and Pre-health Programs helps talented students develop strong, well-rounded academic portfolios, and become competitive candidates for seats in health professional schools. We offer five different master of science degrees, including one and two-year programs, and an evening certificate program, each designed for students with different backgrounds, and varied career goals in the health professions.

Our courses are taught by College of Medicine faculty. A number of our programs offer linkage agreements with Drexel’s and other MD programs, extensive MCAT preparation courses at no additional charge, and courses equivalent to those offered during first year of medical school. All of our programs offer tutoring, and academic and career counseling services, including mock interviews. Our faculty and staff have extensive experience with medical school admissions and provide our students with valuable guidance on applying to and interviewing at health professional schools.

Explore our programs and see how we can help you achieve your goal of a career in the health professions.

I also knew that I wanted to attend to an institution that I could grow with, and I wanted to be in a city that would allow me to thrive and find my passion within medicine, so Drexel ended up being the best fit for me.

The coursework, in general, really prepared me for my first year of medical school. I noticed that several of my classmates who didn’t do a program like this struggled during that first year. I’d already seen immunology, for example, and done well in it, so I was able to help other students in the labs and in the classes.

My family lives in New York City, so one of the first things I looked for was location. I didn't want to be too far from family. With Philadelphia being less than two hours away, it was an ideal place for me. I had spoken to my mentor at Dartmouth and he pointed out Drexel's post-baccalaureate programs. I did some research and found that the Biomedical Studies program fit my needs.
