"In the Darkroom of Identity" with Susan Faludi

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

4:00 PM-6:00 PM

Drexel University's Department of Sociology welcomes Susan Faludi, Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and author of the bestselling "Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women," "Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man," and "The Terror Dream: Myth and Misogyny in an Insecure America." She will be joining us to discuss her most recent book, "In the Darkroom," about her struggle to come to grips with her father’s many identity transformations — from Holocaust survivor to suburban dad to household despot to trans woman at the age of 76 — and how that led her to explore the larger preoccupation with identity that consumes our age. There will be a book signing and reception after the discussion. Copies of her book will be available for purchase.

The visit is co-sponsored by the Departments of Global Studies and Modern Languages, English and Philosophy, Communication, the Center for Science, Technology and Society, the Office of Equality and Diversity, and the SCIC & LGBTQA Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
