The Office of

& the Environment, the conference will take place on Thursday,

Some of the biggest
global challenges that we face today have to do with providing people with
clean, safe, efficient, and affordable energy and countering the negative
effects of climate change. With increasing global interdependence we need to
tackle these challenges both locally and globally and from a variety of
different perspectives – scientific, economic, political, social, and cultural.
With this is mind, Drexel
University's Office of International Program's 11th Annual Student Conference
on Global Challenges will have the theme of Climate and the Environment. This
conference offers undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to share
their research and engage in critical reflection and dialogue on how climate
change and the environment is shaping our global context within the diverse
disciplines of health, education, science, human rights, medicine, law, media,
economics, politics, development and history.
In addition to
several student panels, the Office of International Programs welcomes
Jacqueline Patterson as our keynote speaker. Jacqueline Patterson is the
Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program. In addition to
her work in environmental and climate justice, Jacqueline works on women's
rights, violence against women, HIV and AIDS, racial justice, and economic
justice.
There
will be multiple student panels open to undergraduate and graduate students.
