Our laboratory investigates the neural basis of ingestive behavior, focusing on how the intake of reinforcing substances is affected by neuropeptides.
We use a multidisciplinary approach to examine the involvement of limbic neuropeptides in alcohol drinking and food intake. Techniques include quantitative real-time PCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, home-cage intake and operant self-administration, activity chamber locomotor behavior, hole board exploration, elevated plus maze anxiety, microinjections, tract-tracing and chemogenetics.
