The Giszter Lab Modular Neuromechanics and Motor Primitives

My laboratory is driven by two goals:

First, we seek to understand the fundamental building blocks of motor behavior. We explore modularity, compositionality and motor primitives.

Second, we seek to understand the plasticity of motor behavior and the elaboration of motor skill from these building blocks in everyday life and in disease. These central goals lead naturally to several different projects. We use animal model systems. These are employed as a means to achieve an understanding of motor primitives, modularity, the circuitry underlying these and its plasticity across species, during normal behaviors, and following injury.
