Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies Division of Biomedical Science Programs

The Division of Biomedical Science Programs is home to the Graduate School's research-intensive MS and PhD programs. We offer state-of-the-art research training in biochemistry, biotechnology, cancer biology, pharmacology, neuroscience, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology and genetics.

Our programs are collaborative, student-centered and interdisciplinary, and feature both discipline-specific as well as broadly applicable and integrative coursework. We adopt a career-oriented approach that is designed to generate tomorrow's scientific leaders in academia and industry, and also expose students to career options in law, scientific writing, government policy and business, providing advice on these paths from leading experts. Faculty mentors with active research programs are directly involved in all aspects of a student's training.

Biochemistry of Health & Disease - MS / PhD

Biochemistry of Health & Disease (BHAD) is a challenging, broad-based graduate program involving research and coursework. Through this graduate program, students work at the interface between chemistry and biology to probe the interactions between biomolecules that direct cellular function.

Microbiology & Immunology - MS / PhD

The graduate program in Microbiology and Immunology (MIIM) is a basic and translational science program that offers broad exposure to infectious disease pathogens and the host response to these pathogens, as well as development of novel diagnostics, biomarkers, therapeutic agents and vaccines for these diseases. Students will engage with a highly collaborative faculty that spans multiple departments and colleges for rigorous training in multidisciplinary approaches to prepare the student for future careers in research, teaching, administration, public health and more.
