Co-op Opportunities

Classroom learning, research, projects, papers, and exams are all critical to academic pursuit, but real-world experience can set you apart from other new graduates. Drexel Co-op balances classroom theory with practical experience.

Depending on your major, Drexel Co-op offers the opportunity for you to gain six months of work experience in a University-approved practical, major-related position consistent with your interests and abilities. Many co-op positions are paid, though some students choose to accept unpaid co-ops for experience with a particular company.

Because the academic calendar is based on a quarter system, you are able to alternate between periods of full-time classroom study and full-time employment and complete your degree in as little as two years. Your major determines which quarters you attend classes and which you work full-time.

The benefits are obvious:

  • Students can choose from over 1,500 co-op employers in 33 states and 48 international locations or conduct an independent search.
  • The average six-month paid co-op salary is more than $16,000.
  • Students obtain positions with major corporations like GlaxoSmithKline, Unisys Corporation, Microsoft, Lockheed Martin, Comcast, and QVC, Inc.
  • Graduates with co-op experience typically receive significantly higher starting salaries.
