The geometry of spontaneous spiking in neruronal networks

Abstract: For a coupled oscillator model that was motivated by a neuroscience problem, I will present a variational principle, which explains formation of spatial patterns and transitions between them. The analysis uses large deviation estimates and elements of the algebraic graph theory.
