Films and Heterostructures Group

The Films and Heterostructures Group, led by Professor Steven May, aims to discover and engineer new materials for the next generation of electronic, magnetic, and energy devices. They use molecular beam epitaxy and dc sputtering to deposit thin films and superlattices of complex oxides and topological semimetals. In addition to synthesis, they utilize a range of characterization techniques including electrical, optical, and structural measurements performed at Drexel, as well as advanced x-ray and neutron scattering performed at national laboratories, to understand the crystal and electronic structure of oxides, MXenes, and quantum materials.
