PhD Student Ariana Levitt Awarded 2018 Australia-Americas PhD Research Internship
April 18, 2018
PhD student Ariana Levitt (advisor: Yury Gogotsi) has been selected to participate in the 2018 Australia-Americas PhD Research Internship Program of the Australian Academy of Science.
During her eight-week placement beginning in June, Ariana will be conducting research with Dr. Joselito Razal at the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at Deakin University in Geelong, Australia, continuing her work on the development of MXene-based conductive fibers and yarns for smart textile applications. The IFM is a new research facility focused on the development of functional fibers and is equipped with novel fiber-processing equipment and conditioned textile-testing laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment for analyzing the properties of fibers and yarns.
The $3,500 grant is funded by the Australian Government’s Enabling Growth and Innovation Fund and administered by both the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Australian Academy of Science. It allows for second and third year graduate students to build collaborative partnerships with Australia research organizations early in their careers, fostering scientific collaboration between Australia and the U.S.
