Drexel Materials Student Attends Intel ISEF as Special Awards Judge

B.S. student Alex McBride (advisor:  Yury Gogotsi) represented Drexel University as a special awards judge at the 2014 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Los Angeles, CA, May 11-16, 2014.

As a judge, Alex gave out two awards to encourage high school students to continue research at an early age.  Alex’s involvement in the event started in high school when he was a finalist for the fair and presented his research on plasmons in solar cells.

According to their website, “The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, providing an annual forum for more than 1,700 high school students from over 70 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research and compete for about $5 million in awards in 17 categories.”
