An image by Ph.D. students Babak Anasori and Michael Naguib and Professors Yury Gogotsi and Michel W. Barsoum
 was featured on a video montage by the Materials Research Society (MRS).
The image, "The Cliff of the Two-dimensional World," was an entry in the MRS "Science as Art" competition and one of 20 images MRS compiled from the competition since its inception in 2005 to appear in the video. The micrograph also received the "People's Choice" award in the Science Magazine and National Science Foundation 2011 International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge.
