Department Head and Professor Antonios ZavaliangosDepartment Head and Professor Antonios Zavaliangos has received a $270,420 grant from Abbott Laboratories for “Discrete Element Method for Phramaceutical Powder Compaction: Medelling and Experiments.”
With this grant, Zavaliangos and collaborators from Abbott will develop a new modeling capability for predicting the behavior of pharmaceutical materials during tablet production and their properties. The goal is to optimize processing using computational techniques, a research activity that is in line with the “Quality by Design” mandate set by the Food and Drug Administration.
