Drexel Materials Students Win ASM International Poster and Scholarship Awards

Six Drexel materials students received awards at the ASM International Philadelphia Liberty Bell Chapter's meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

B.S./M.S. student Matthew Nelson (advisor: Yury Gogotsi), B.S. student Brittany Gallagher (advisor: Steven May) and B.S./M.S. student Pelin Kansu (advisor: Caroline Schauer) each received $1,500.00 scholarships.

In addition, the following students placed in the annual C.F. Burns Poster Contest:

First place ($500) - B.S. (Biomed)/M.S. (Materials) student Laura Toth (advisor: Dr. Caroline Schauer), "Crosslinked Electrospun Hyaluronic Acid Fibers for Tissue Engineering Applications"

Second place ($300) - Ph.D. student Kristy Jost (advisor: Dr. Yury Gogotsi), "A Multidisciplinary Approach to Wearable Energy Storage"

Third place ($200) - Ph.D. student Jake McDonough (advisor: Dr. Yury Gogotsi), "KOH Activation of Carbon Onions for Supercapacitor Electrodes"
