Transfer Applicants

Transfer applications will be considered only between the applicant’s first and second years of law school. Transfer students must complete at least two years of work at the Earle Mack School of Law. Transfer credit will be considered only for work done at U.S. law schools that are approved by the American Bar Association. No credit will be granted for work done through correspondence or online courses.

If you are interested in transferring to the Earle Mack School of Law, you must submit:

1. an application (apply online and we will waive the application fee at http://www.drexel.edu/law/apply.asp)

2. an official LSDAS report

3. an official law school transcript
4. a personal statement indicating your reasons for wanting to transfer to the Earle Mack School of Law
5. your résumé

6. two letters of recommendation

7. a letter from the dean of your current school indicating that you are in good standing and stating your class rank; please send the letter directly to:

Earle Mack School of Law
Office of Admissions
3320 Market St.
Philadelphia, PA 19104

The transfer application deadline is July 15. Decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning in mid-June. No decision will be made until all first-year grades are received. Drexel accepts transfer students after completion of the equivalent to the entire required first-year curriculum at their law school. We do not accept mid-semester or third-year transfer students. Drexel seeks students who have demonstrated academic success and thus limits consideration of transfer applicants to students who are in the top third or higher of their first-year law school class. Transfer students are eligible to participate in Moot Court and Law Review in accordance with procedures set forth by the faculty. For more information contact lawadmissions@drexel.edu or call 1.215.895.1LAW.

Guest Student Applicants:

On occasion, a student enrolled in a J.D. program at another ABA-approved U.S. law school may apply for admission on a full-time, non-degree basis. Guest students may attend Drexel Law for up to three quarters, earning credit toward a degree at their own institutions. An applicant must have completed their first year of law school before enrolling at Drexel Law.

The Admissions Committee considers past academic performance as well as special circumstances when reviewing such requests. No one is admitted as a guest student for more than three quarters.
