Career Strategies Announcements

Inspiration and Ideas from Dean Gerson:

Congratulations, graduates! First and foremost, congratulations to the Class of 2014! Celebrate your accomplishment and steel yourself for a busy summer studying for the bar exam. Do it right, do it once, and never think about it again. Good luck!

The Early Bird Gets the Job – Visit Us!
It’s not too early to request a résumé review and strategy session! The CSO is open all summer long and we want to see you. Whether you email your résumé for review and request feedback via telephone, email, or an in-person meeting, it’s a very good idea to plan ahead. On-campus interviews (OCI) and job fairs launch earlier and earlier. Law firms with summer associate programs for 2015 are willing to hear from applicants in late June and early July. For second year students interested in post-graduate judicial clerkships, now is the time to meet with Alex Vecchio. Let us help you strategize so you miss no deadlines and leave no stone left unturned.

If appointments during the workday are difficult, we will accommodate your schedule. Please write to Krystal for an appointment ( and I will meet with students and alumni as early as 8:00 am and as late as 6:00 pm.

Book Recommendation
I just finished a short, clever and inspirational career advice book, "Why Hire Jennifer? by Richard Lewis". Lewis is an ad executive who pioneered the Absolut vodka campaign. His book offers great advice about how to differentiate yourself even if you’re not at the top of your class.

Things to Do Over Summer Break
The Public Interest Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association coordinates events for law students. The events are intended to provide information about public interest practice and allow law students to connect with public service minded attorneys and students. Details of these events will be shared through the Summer Public Interest List Serve. To be included on the list serve, please register on Event Brite with your email address (it's quick and painless:
