Certified Legal Intern

Pennsylvania Bar Admission Rules 321 and 322 authorize students to appear in court as Certified Legal Interns. To become a Certified Legal Intern, students need to have:

  • Completed all first year classes
  • Completed at least¬†43¬†semester credits overall
  • Completed Professional Responsibility
  • Completed Evidence

Students seeking certification in Pennsylvania need to read all downloaded Application Instructions.

On Page 1 of the Application, students need to fill out the Applicant Information and have his or her supervising attorney fill out the Supervising Attorney Information.

On Page 2 of the Application (Dean's Certification), students need to complete the top half of the form, and submit the entire application to Associate Dean for Experiential Learning Susan Brooks for approval. If appropriate, Dean Brooks will then certify that the student has met all the requirements to become a Certified Legal Intern, is in good standing, is of competent legal ability, and has adequate training to perform the duties as an intern.
