Students, Faculty Raise Glasses to Support Charity

November 11, 2010 — More than 160 students, faculty and staff gathered at a popular watering hole near Penn’s Landing on Nov. 5 to raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Delaware Valley.

Dubbed Cocktails for a Cause, the event at Mad River on Chestnut Street raised $1,000 for the non-profit organization.

"We are very fortunate to have great administration, faculty and staff here at the law school," said Steph Cieslak, vice president of student affairs for the Student Bar Association, which organized the event.

Fourteen guest bartenders took a break from their teaching and administrative duties to support the cause, while other faculty members did their part simply by attending the benefit.

"Without their willingness to take part in events like these, we wouldn’t have raised the amount of money that we did or had nearly as much fun," Cieslak said.
