Faculty Colloquia Series: Michael Vandenbergh

Michael P. Vandenbergh holds the David Daniels Allen Distinguished Chair of Law at Vanderbilt University School of Law.  A leading scholar in environmental and energy law, his research explores the relationship between formal legal regulation and informal social regulation of individual and corporate behavior, with a focus, in recent years, on climate change. Among his particular interests is the influence of social norms and private contracting on firm behavior and environmentally friendly governance.  Before joining Vanderbilt’s law faculty, Professor Vandenbergh was a partner at Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C. He also served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1993 to 1995.

Professor Vandenbergh will present “Beyond Gridlock:  The Private Governance Response to Climate Change.”
