Professor Donald Tibbs took part in a discussion of “Hip-Hop, Mass Incarceration and the Private Prison Industrial Complex” at the University of Michigan Law School on March 14.

Tibbs appeared with Indiana Tech Law School Professor andré douglas pond cummings, with whom he is editing a book, “Hip Hop and the Law: The Key Writings That Formed the Movement.” The book features articles from a ground-breaking 2012 course and lecture series the two professors organized, featuring academics from leading universities around the country. 

The author of “From Black Power to Prison Power: The Making of Jones v. North Carolina Prisoners' Labor Union,” published in 2012 by Palgrave MacMillan, Tibbs is an authority on the overlapping issues of race, law, civil rights and criminal procedure.
