The law school's Trial Team got off to a great start in the fall competition season.  

3Ls Racquel Hubbs and Josef Mensah won the Judge Paul Joseph Kelly Jr. Invitational Trial Competition at Fordham University on Oct. 28. The competition, featuring 16 teams, consisted of two preliminary rounds in which teams of two lawyers tried a case on each side. Hubbs and Mensah advanced through quarterfinal and semifinal rounds eventually winning the championship round.  Hubbs also received the honor of Best Oral Advocate in the final round of the competition with Mensah receiving the honor of Best Oral Advocate in the preliminary rounds.  They were coached by Adjunct Professor Royce Smith, an attorney with Feldman Shepherd.

In the St. John's University School of Law Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Trial Competition, 3Ls Stephen Kulp and Haley Welch and 2Ls Abbie Heller and Jasleen Singh reached the semi-finals.  The law school's team was one of 16 law schools throughout the country trying a civil rights case in an actual courtroom setting before prominent jurists and trial attorneys.  The competition, which spanned four-days, is the only national civil rights trial competition in the country.  They were coached by Adjunct Professor Matt Leckman, an attorney with Pogust, Braslow and Millrood, and by Andrew Sciolla, also an attorney with Pogust, Braslow and Millrood.
