The Moot Court Board provides an opportunity to sharpen both written and oral advocacy skills through participation in competitions before hypothetical appellate courts at competitions across the country.

About the Board/How to Join (click to collapse section)
In addition to the aforementioned sharpening of written and oral advocacy skills, Board members are also eligible to earn up to 8 credits for participation on the Moot Court Board.

Academic Credit:


Each Moot Court Board member can earn the following credits:
  • 2 credits – 2L spring quarter
  • 2 credits – 3L winter quarter
  • 2 credits – competition quarter
  • 2 credits – if on executive board during 3L year
  • Requirements of Membership:
  • Compete in 1 interscholastic competition during 3L year anywhere in the country*
  • Assist teams in preparation for competition (~6 hours/term – when not competing)
  • Conduct practice oral argument sessions for 1Ls (Spring Term)
  • Participate in conducting annual internal competition
  • Attend Board Meetings (Usually twice per term)
  • *With faculty advisor. All reasonable expenses paid
    How to join:

    Internal Moot Court Competition consists of 2 parts:
  • Written Brief – Brief due August 3rd. (40%)

  • Oral Advocacy – Competition held September 12 - 15, 2009 (60%)
    Preliminary Oral Argument: Saturday, September 12, 2009, 8:30am - 5:00pm
    Semi-Finals & Finals: Tuesday, September 15, 5:00pm
