The
Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law actively
reviews applications for full-time faculty. Our
full-time faculty recruitment process will begin in
August 2008 and will
likely draw to a close in the early spring of 2009.
In order to assess your own strength as a
candidate, we encourage potential applicants to review
the biographies of our existing full time faculty.
A successful candidate will typically present a record
of exceptional academic achievement in undergraduate
and graduate studies, a distinctive practice record,
which may also include judicial clerkships and academic
fellowships, and a demonstrated commitment to, or record
of, excellent scholarly publications. We are particularly
interested in candidates who bring unique educational,
methodological, or practice backgrounds that add vitality
to their research. Because we regard teaching as an
essential component of a faculty member’s job,
a successful candidate must be, or be capable of becoming,
an excellent classroom teacher. In addition, the successful
candidate must share our continuing commitment to creating
a distinctive new legal community. Faculty are expected
to be enthusiastic participants in a cooperative effort
to create an excellent law school. As a new law school,
faculty must be willing to invest energy into developing
programs, mentoring students and advising student organizations,
and growing a vibrant intellectual community. We seek
faculty members who look forward to participating in
the daily life of Drexel Law and Drexel University.
The School of Law also reviews applications for adjunct
faculty who teach individual courses. Our needs vary
from year to year and we hire adjunct faculty on a
rolling basis. Successful candidates will typically
bring a strong academic background and deep practice
experience in their fields.
Applications are particularly encouraged from people
of color, people with all sexual and gender identities,
individuals with disabilities, and anyone whose background,
experience, or viewpoint will contribute to the diversity
of the faculty.
To apply, please send a cover letter and curriculum
vitae (with references) to Professor
Daniel M. Filler, Chair of the Appointments Committee. We prefer that
applications be submitted via email to: LawFac@drexel.edu.
Please explicitly note whether you seek a full-time
or adjunct opportunity.
