Bret Asbury’s interests focus on civil procedure, jurisprudence and law and literature.

Professor Asbury received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was managing editor of The Yale Law Journal and a senior editor of the Yale Journal on Regulation, while also serving on the executive board of the Black Law Students’ Association.

Before coming to Drexel, Professor Asbury worked as an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and Dechert LLP, both in Philadelphia. While at these firms, Professor Asbury worked on leveraged buyouts, debt restructurings, securities offerings, mergers and strategic acquisitions, tort and securities litigations, white collar criminal investigations and NASD arbitrations.

In addition to his law firm experience, Professor Asbury clerked for the Hon. Julio M. Fuentes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, in Newark, NJ.

Professor Asbury’s teaching experience prior to joining the Drexel faculty includes fellowships in the Yale University English and Literature departments.
