Class of 2009 Posts 89.8 Percent Pass Rate
on Bar Exam in Pennsylvania, Shines in Other States

The Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners announced on Oct. 9 that the inaugural class of the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University posted an 89.84 percent pass rate on the Pennsylvania Bar Exam – the third-highest overall result in the state.

Of the 128 members of the Class of 2009 who sat for the exam in July, 115 passed. The pass rate for all first-time test-takers who sat for the Pennsylvania exam was 87.29 percent.

All four graduates who took tests in Connecticut, Delaware and Florida passed their exams.

Dean Roger J. Dennis congratulated the graduates and attributed their success to both hard work and more than a little bit of pluck.

“This class possessed an uncommon measure of entrepreneurship, and their performance on the bar exam reflects that focus and determination,” Dennis said.

“This result promises a bright future for these graduates entering the legal profession and also serves as an affirmation of the excellent faculty and programs at the Earle Mack School of Law.”

Elizabeth Nicolas, a member of the Class of 2009, said the faculty shows a tremendous commitment to the students.

“I don’t think I could find more supportive professors,” she said.

The inaugural class featured students from 21 states and six foreign countries who had graduated from 93 different colleges and universities.

The Earle Mack School of Law, building on Drexel University’s signature Co-op Program, integrates experiential learning with scholarship, preparing students to move into professional practice with confidence and skill.
