Drexel
is accepting applications for the Juris
Doctor (JD) Program for
enrollment in the fall class of 2010.
For
2009 incoming students, we have accepted only 76 students per
section, and we have only 2 sections. Those students have an
experience learning the law that we think will be unique, in
terms both of the close relationship they will have with the
faculty, and the opportunity they have to shape the curriculum
for those students who follow. Our students take their classes
in a new, state-of-the-art academic
building, and are
able to have at least one intensive, semester co-op in one of the region’s best corporate,
non-profit, law firm, public service, government or judicial
office, and to be supervised by an experienced attorney who not
only knows his or her field, but is eager to help students learn
what it means to practice law in context. Finally, our students
will be required to use their skills in service to the public,
which we believe is in the finest traditions of the legal profession,
and of the Philadelphia Lawyer.
Candidates
for admission are required to demonstrate excellence and leadership
in their careers. They must have earned a baccalaureate degree
from an institution accredited by one of the regional accrediting
associations of the United States or, if foreign educated, a
degree equivalent to a four year baccalaureate degree, have registered
for Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) and take the Law
School Admissions Test (LSAT).
The candidate’s undergraduate grade point average and LSAT
scores will be strong factors in determining admission to the
Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law. In addition, the
Admissions Committee will consider a student’s extracurricular
activities, work experience, and volunteer service. The Earle
Mack School of Law seeks a diverse class of students from different
racial and ethnic backgrounds, from different parts of the country
and world, and from different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Decisions
are made on a rolling basis and the size of our classes is limited
to ensure the quality of the educational experience. For this
reason, students will be encouraged to apply early.
