Business & Entrepreneurship Law Concentration: Degree Requirements

For students who wish to focus their studies in the area of Business and Entrepreneurship Law, the law school offers a sequenced curriculum leading to completion of the concentration.

To complete the requirements of the concentration a student must:

Complete the following Required Courses (generally during the second year):

  • Business Organizations
  • Federal Income Tax
  • Enterprise Tax

Complete six (6) credits from the following menu of electives:

  • Accounting for Lawyers 
  • Banking Law
  • Bankruptcy
  • Broker/Dealer Regulation
  • Compliance Skills
  • Contract Drafting
  • Employee Benefits Law
  • Employment Law
  • Essentials of Intellectual Property Law
  • Health Care Finance
  • Insurance Law
  • International Business Transactions
  • Legal Regulation of Investment Advisers
  • Legal Regulation of Investment Companies
  • Nonprofit Organizations
  • Private Equity and Venture Capital Law
  • Real Estate Transactions
  • Sales
  • Secured Transactions
  • Securities Regulation
  • Sports Law
  • Transactional Lawyering
  • Trusts and Estates

Complete a Practical Learning Experience:

  • Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, or
  • A co-op placement approved by the Concentration Director, or
  • Another comparable unpaid practical learning experience approved by the Concentration Director in writing, or 
  • For JD/MBA students, completion of the MBA requirements

The concentration requires an overall 2.5 minimum GPA. To receive "Honors" in the concentration, the student must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or better in the courses counted toward completion of the concentration.
