Philadelphia Inquirer Debuts Blog Named for, Featuring Professor Robert Field

October 08, 2012

The law school is pleased to announce that the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com have created a new blog with Professor Robert Field as the lead contributor. The Field Clinic focuses on health care policy, health law and related topics.

Field is professor of law at the Earle Mack School of Law and professor of health management and policy at the Drexel University School of Public Health. He is the author of Health Care Regulation in America: Complexity, Confrontation and Compromise, a comprehensive guide to the oversight of health care published by Oxford University Press. He is joined in staffing the blog by Erica Cohen, a third-year student at the Law School.

The Field Clinic offers engaging analysis of laws, policies and political trends that shape the health care system. It translates complex aspects of public programs – and debates surrounding them – into language readily understandable by non-experts.

Recent entries have included:

Field has been a contributing blogger for the Inquirer since 2010, when he began writing for the newspaper’s Check-Up blog. In March 2012, the newspaper sent him to the U.S. Supreme Court to cover pivotal arguments concerning the Affordable Care Act, which the justices ultimately upheld.

Field said Cohen complements his entries with “a fresh perspective, as a health law student and past president of the law school’s Health Law Society.”
