Professor Rachel Lopéz will discuss "Post-Conflict Justice in Guatemala."
The talk follows López’s Fulbright Scholarship, in which she studied transitional justice mechanisms in the wake of the genocide of indigenous Mayans in Guatemala. Through the scholarship, she conducted research in both Guatemala and Spain, studying the potential for interplay between amnesty/truth commissions and criminal prosecutions.
López teaches Introduction to Human Rights Law and Justice Lawyering and directs the law school’s Community Lawyering Clinic.
