"13th" Documentary Viewing and Discussion

Thursday, January 19, 2017

5:15 PM-7:30 PM

A viewing of the award-winning documentary "13th" will be followed by a panel discussion led by faculty members of the Kline School of Law.

In "13th," filmmaker Ava DuVernay explores the history of race and the criminal justice system in the U.S. The film focuses on mass incarceration as a pattern that followed the 13th Amendment, which made slavery unconstitutional. The film has won numerous awards and is considered to be a likely contender for an Oscar.

Professors David S. Cohen, Rose Corrigan, Donald Tibbs and Kevin Woodson will lead a discussion following the viewing.

The event is sponsored by the Black Law Students Society.
