Technology is transforming transplant medicine, allowing the donation of a growing array of biological products. As demand for such products increases, so does the demand for donors – and the specter of organ and tissue shortages.
Some see donor compensation as a solution, and a federal court recently agreed. This half-day conference will explore policy, legal, ethical and clinical aspects of the question: Is it time to reconsider payments for transplant donors?
