Professors Terry Seligmann and Emily Zimmerman Present at Biennial Legal Writing Conference

Professor Terry Jean Seligmann, director of the law school's legal writing program and Emily Zimmerman, legal writing professor and criminal law concentration director,  presented at the 2015 Association of Legal Writing Directors conference at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in Memphis on June 5.

One of Seligmann's presentations addressed the challenges at the heart of teaching legal writing to students with disabilities. Seligmann also jointly presented with Zimmerman to discuss the issues faced by tenure-tracked legal writing professors. Zimmerman's individual presentation covered how legal writing professors can help students manage the academic challenges of legal writing and legal education in general.

Terry Jean Seligmann has expertise in special education law and is a nationally known teacher of legal research and writing. Emily Zimmerman conducts empirical research to assess strengths and weaknesses in legal pedagogy and methods for promoting student enthusiasm.
