Dean Roger Dennis discussed developments in legal education at the National Conference of Bar Examiners Annual Conference in Seattle, Wash. on May 3. 

Dennis explored efforts to emphasize experiential learning in law schools in the two decades since the MacCrate report called for wholesale changes in legal education.

The 1992 report, which was backed by an American Bar Association Task Force on Law Schools and the Profession, correctly identified weaknesses in traditional legal education, Dennis said, adding that much work remains to improve the legal academy.   

The founding dean of Drexel Law, Dennis was elected in 2013 to the ABA Council of the Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar Section, which accredits law schools.  Before coming to Drexel, he was provost, the head of campus, at Rutgers-Camden and was previously the dean of the Rutgers-Camden School of Law.
