Alumni Association Launches Mentoring Program

May 22, 2012

The Earle Mack School of Law Alumni Association has launched a new program to help recent graduates transition to careers in the legal profession.

Law school alumni have agreed to mentor recent graduates as they prepare for the bar exam and take other steps to begin their careers, said Jackie Lowthert, a 2009 graduate and co-chair of the association’s Membership, Social and Networking Committee.

The committee has already matched about one third of the Class of 2012 with alumni mentors who have taken bar exams in the same states or entered similar areas of legal practice, Lowthert said.

“We’re always welcoming new people,” Lowthert said, adding that she and co-chair Stephanie Cieslak, Class of 2011, are planning events before and after the July bar exam to offer support and encouragement to the recent graduates.
