Professor Barry Furrow Gives Presentations on Health Reform, Patient Protection

Professor Barry Furrow presented at the conference On the Table: An Examination of Medical Malpractice, Litigation and Methods of Reform at the New England Law School on Oct. 20. Furrow’s presentation, “Can Hospitals First Do No Harm? Accountability for Adverse Effects in Health Care,” dissected the problem of patient injury using emerging “adverse events” research and explored potential regulatory responses.

Furrow presented “Physician Practice and Liability: the Effect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on Oct. 18.

He also presented “How to Read a Contract” at the fall conference of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, held Sept. 23-25 in Mackinac Island, Mich.
