Event Focuses on Civil Liberties and Immigrants' Rights in a Post-9/11 World

On Sept. 7, the law school will host the panel discussion "9/11/2001 - 9/11/2011, A Decade of Advocacy: A Practical Lawyering Perspective."

The event, which focuses on issues of civil liberties and immigrants' rights in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, features speakers Deepa Iyer, executive director of South Asian Americans Leading Together, Moein Khawaja, executive director of the Council of American-Islamic Relations of Pennsylvania and Mary Catherine Roper, staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania.

The discussion has been organized by Professor Anil Kalhan and 2L Raj Datta and is co-sponsored by the American Constitution Society, International Law Students Association, Middle Eastern Law Students Association, the National Lawyers Guild and the Philosophy Club.

The event takes place from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 140 with a reception to follow in the 3rd Floor Gallery.
